The poor as skivers and scroungers

Conservatives believe the poor

are skivers and scroungers,

getting the just rewards

for their feckless idleness.

They have no compassion or empathy,

whether it be for the children

who go hungry,

the homeless dying on the streets

or the elderly

who can't afford to heat their homes.

They have instituted a cruel system

of universal credits

deliberately designed

to make it as difficult as possible

to receive payments promptly.

Their callous disregard for the poor

is only exceeded by their own hubris.
