A joy of the day is to spend some time in the garden

Seaweed that I had  got earlier this year

has dried and stored at a pile at the side in a corner.

Now at this time of the season

to prepare the earth

before winter truly arrives

we take a lot of this seaweed

and dig it into the earth.

There is an advantage in living on this peninsula

on the west coast of Scotland

in that on the shore at certain times on the year

or after a storm

we get a lot of seaweed

spewed up onto the shore.

So we can just walk down from the hill

and take a wee walk along the shore

and collect as much seaweed

as is needed for the  garden.

There is the beauty of living in the rural where we can take pleasure in contributing to the natural world that we live in.
