Some people like conspiracy theories because it simplifies everything in what is a very complex world into a neat a straightforward explanation. It also gives people that feeling that they're an insider, privileged to know what's "really happening" nod nod wink wink.

Unfortunately most conspiracies can't really be addressed through argument it's like nailing jelly to a wall. Given the content is often quite vague and often contradictory there is always one thread which might explain the obvious problem with another part of the theory.

More likely it's people that have either ended up with too much time on their hands - as many have during lockdown - and fallen down the rabbit hole of conspiracy videos which all reinforce each other. The one central message being that you can't believe what most people say - that way the more overwhelming the evidence the less these theorists believe it.
