We need a preventative strategy like New Zealand's to deal with outbreaks rather than a numbers game played between health officials and politicians.
It's tiring watching political leaders 'react' to numbers daily and claiming this provides evidence on what to do next. Yes you might get lucky with test and trace like NSW seems be doing at the moment. But you might also be very unlucky like Victoria with that methodology. I understand the anxiety about trying to hang onto the economy until the last second before your numbers of infections make that wish impossible. But a 'preventative strategy' like New Zealand's would have been better for everyone's mental health, sense of certainty and overall less risky to the economy that this numbers game Australia is engaged with.
