The forthcoming UK Internal Market bill will be the flashpoint.

This legislation is supposed to give the UK government a "free hand", whatever that means, in trade negotiations. What it means in practice is that Scotland will be force fed chlorinated chicken and other sub standard imports resulting from a lowering of British food standards.

Hard to see this going down very well in Scotland; it will only give more weight to the independence movement which can legitimately point out that it is being dictated to against its interests. With no veto over these decisions, Scotland will just become further estranged from England and resentment will continue to fester. There will be no moral case for keeping Scotland in a union against its will. Looks like another "Brexit dividend" for the UK...
