It breaks my heart every time a print publication goes out of business or online only. I read the news online each day because there are many, which gives me a well-rounded look at what's really happening. However, "screen" viewing for some of these magazines is simply not the same. I love to hold good magazines in my hand, take time to read interesting articles and tear out recipes to try. I imagine architects have appreciated this publication for the imagination it inspired in them.

In the U.S. one of the best newspaper publishers has gone bankrupt - McClatchey Newspapers - and two hedge funds are bidding to take it over. One is the morally/ethically bankrupt publisher of National Enquirer - the company that bought up and suppressed exposes of The Con Don's sexual exploits and payoff to Stormy Daniels.

Whichever hedge fund wins the bid WE THE PEOPLE lose. Down goes another publication we depended on for reliable news, both locally and nationally. The hedge fund will simply strip and pocket the assests and keep the papers running until they take the company into bankruptcy to prevent having to pay anyone they owe money.

The new global "market" way is actually

the "craps tables" way.

It's beyond despicable.
