A government built on incompetence,

For the last decade, the Conservative Party have put the interests of themselves and their donors ahead of those of the country, destroying the capacity of public services to like after society by keeping people safe. However, the last year has been something different altogether, putting ideological purity before integrity and common sense in every situation. The Johnson government have failed to show a shred of decency in power as they pursue their one and only dream: Brexit.

From the start they were willing to disregard democracy in order to get what they wanted. The prorogation of Parliament was meant to seize power from MP’s in order to save Brexit from scrutiny, a move that portrayed disrespect for one of the oldest democratic institution in the world. After being legally apprehended, the Conservative Party decided that it was time to turn up the temperature and call the December election, initiating a terrible slur campaign and on Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party. They were aided in this ambition by the right wing press, who supported the Tories and their reckless policies in spite of the truth.

During the current crisis, the government implemented lockdown lite after dabbling in the pseudoscience of herd immunity, a decision that has been hypothesised to have cost thousands of lives. This was a sacrifice of millions on the altar of neoliberalism, portraying who the herd in herd immunity always were. There has also been a disproportionate death rate among BAME communities, a situation that still hasn’t been researched fully. This has been highlighted by the Black Lives Matter campaigns, yet the Conservative Party are related reluctant to implement serious change.

This government is built on incompetence, mendacity, and greed, only looking out for those with enough money to further their financial ambitions. It is unfortunate that we live under such a cruel establishment who have contempt for ordinary people: the most horrific part is that it won’t stop anytime soon.
