Scotland is hugely into soul music,

If you went to a club in Scotland in the 1960's,

you would hear Tamla-Motown, Stax,

Atlantic, Chess, Brunswick …

the labels that put out soul music in the States.

That was the standard fare for all of the club music.

Radio wasn’t a big thing because it was the BBC and there was only one station.

They didn’t play music all day

and they certainly didn’t play much R & B,

so you had to go to the clubs

to hear the latest and greatest music.

Scottish people listened and danced to soul music, so it became very much the language that was understood.

Celtic music was also breathed into  the soul music.

A Scottish movement that lived and breathed soul music.

As so  well seen  in the Scottish
