viruses borne by animals have caused some of the most devastating epidemics in history because they are taken out of their natural habitats and sold in wet markets alongside one another. The stress of this inhumane treatment diminishes the animals immune system and makes them more susceptible to contracting the virus. The scientists involved in zoonoses are saying there will be other outbreaks unless wet markets are banned.

A charity organiser that is taking in animals who have been saved from wet markets says 'although we are meant to be an intelligent species we have a tendency to forget what happens quite quickly', it is frightening to know this is true.

It is not going to end after this pandemic the virologist are saying, another is waiting around the corner unless we change our ways.
