To obey the Law

Middle Ages

There were no law courts yet.

A man was punished at the Manor Court by his Lord, who would make him pay a fine for such crimes as letting his beasts wander in the corn, or for taking firewood,

He could also be tried at the Shire Moot by the Sheriff.
