How the people lived during the Norman times.

In the Norman village, besides the stone manor-house, there were the church and the cross, the priest's house and twenty or thirty huts for the villeins. These were made of wattle and daub (wicker and mud) with thatched roofs. The smoky little huts hut a fire in the middle of their one room.
